About Pug Social

What’s a pug social?

Pug socials are opportunities for pugs, their owners and people who just admire the breed to get together once a month in a dog-friendly location. The pugs play (usually off-leash); the owners chat and take pictures. Pug Socials usually last an hour and a half. A few times a year we have larger socials that involve people food and costuming!

Who can come to a pug social?

Friendly pugs, *gentle* non-pug siblings, owners and those who just adore the breed are welcome to attend. Pug socials are a great opportunity for folks who are thinking about getting a pug to come “Meet the Breed”.

Who organizes the pug socials?

Hi! I'm Amanda, organizer of the Northeast Ohio Pug Socials! I've been arranging events for this group since October 2004! If you have questions about our group, don't hesitate to email me.

When did this group start?

PugSocial.com can trace its roots back to the original Cleveland Pug Meetup Group on meetup.com. I found the Cleveland Pug Meetup group in September 2003, when we got our first pug Mallory. At that time, there was no group organizer, everyone just voted on a location to meet. In April 2004, they switched to a format that required an organizer to plan each event. I took over as the group organizer in October 2004. In April 2005, Meetup.com changed their policy (no longer free!), and we changed over to Yahoo Groups, to become the Pugs of Northeast Ohio. January 2007 saw an opportunity to expand our presence on the internet... Now we’ve got a website of our very own to give our group members easy access to social information and to encourage more pug enthusiasts to join our ranks!

I’m coming to the next pug social, what should I do/bring?

Start by RSVPing that you’ll be there! You should bring your own poo clean up bags. Many owners also bring their own water, dog treats and a camera!
